4th Janela de Dramaturgia

Janela de Dramaturgia — literally, ‘dramaturgy window’ — is one of the most relevant spaces for sharing the writing of contemporary and experimental theater, launching new talents annually. The festival promotes the reading of new playwrights from all regions of Brazil. For its fourth edition, the visual identity should reflect the growth of the project, deepening its dialogue with the city under the perspective of expanding the landscapes. One of the biggest challenges was to generate a visual repertoire that covered the production of several visual communication pieces (on digital and print media) during its 5 months of duration.

A real intervention on the landscape o the city was conceived and photographed from a distance. Two uniformed men would install irregular squared ‘frames' in different urban landscapes using yellow signaling tape. The intention was to capture spontaneous reactions and compositions in space that could relate to the concept of a window. The images end up revealing the tension between what is inside and outside the borders of the yellow frame.

These photographs were later used as visual repertoire for a series of posters, collectible postcards, a catalog, several digital pieces, and environmental signage solutions. We highlighted the yellow shapes in the black and white images to improve contrast and used this color as a key visual element in the identity of the festival.
