João Emediato (1988, Belo Horizonte, Brazil) is a graphic designer and multimedia artist obsessed with lists, inventories, categories, collections, archives, maps, dictionaries, instruction manuals, and encyclopedias. In his practice, he explores transitions between saying and showing across different media, such as publishing, printmaking, film, performance, and writing. Whether in commercial commissions or in his personal projects, he conveys irreverence and conceptual thinking in the creation of engaging visual narratives.
Co-founder of Estúdio Lampejo (2014-2018), where he worked as a Creative Director designing and coordinating projects with a special emphasis on the cultural sector.
Since 2019, under the artistic alias Calma, Joana, he has developed independent publications, prints, workshops, and design commissions.
